Manikarnika
Passeggiando per le contorte anguste e affollatissime viuzze di Varanasi, la parte vecchia della città sacra per gli induisti, la zona della creazione, al Ghat di Manikarnika. Nessuno si sposta, né interrompe la propria attività o compie alcun gesto, neppure quando, poco dopo, si vede passare un breve corteo di uomini, alcuni dei quali portano sulle spalle una lettiga, su cui giace un cadavere.
