Domenico Albamonte è un fotografo non professionista. Nato a Palermo nel 1970, vive a Roma, fotografa ovunque può. Inizia a praticare la fotografia con una Nikon analogica interamente manuale e lavorando in camera oscura, Con l'avvento del digitale passa alla nuova tecnologia sempre in ambito Nikon (prima la D90, poi una serie D5000 fino all’attuale D7500). Fedele alla filosofia per cui si fa fotografia uscendo di casa e non davanti al PC, limita la post-produzione allo sviluppo in senso stretto del file RAW resistendo alle lusinghe dei software di fotoritocco e da ultimo dell'IA. Tra i suoi autori di riferimento vi sono Mimmo Jodice e Lee Friedlander, a cui si ispira nei suoi generi fotografici preferiti: la riproduzione creativa di opere d'arte e il paesaggio sociale urbano. Predilige il bianco e nero, per lui vera quintessenza della fotografia. Crede fermamente che la fotografia non si fa con la macchina fotografica ma mettendoci dentro i libri letti, la musica ascoltata, le immagini osservate, le persone amate (cit. Ansel Adams). Nel far ciò, ricerca una propria personale poetica che tenta di cogliere lo scorrere del tempo interiore, i silenzi metafisici, lo smarrimento della civiltà. Condivide la sua produzione principalmente su social networks, gradisce reazioni e commenti costruttivi. Buona luce! Domenico Albamonte is an amateur photographer. Born in Palermo in 1970, he lives in Rome and takes photos wherever he can. He began practicing photography with a Nikon without automatic controls and at 18 started working in the darkroom. With the advent of digital, he switched to the new technology (first the Nikon D90, then a D5000 series, up to the current D7500). His philosophy is that photographs are taken outside of the house-walls and not in front of a computer, therefore he limits post-production to the development of the RAW file, avoiding more advanced photo editing software and AI. The authors that infuenced him most are Mimmo Jodice and Lee Friedlander and his favorite photographic genres are the creative reproduction of works of art and the urban-social landscape. He favors black and white, which he believes to be the true quintessence of photography. He firmly believes that photography isn't made with a camera, but by putting into it the books we've read, the music we've listened to, the images we've observed, and the people we loved (Ansel Adams quot.). In doing so, he pursues his own personal poetics attempting to capture the flow of inner time, the metaphysical silences, the disorientation of civilization.
